Facebook Newscast

World News Tonight “Facecast” coming to Facebook. On December 1, ABC News started featuring a one-minute news update on Facebook every weekday. Known as Facecast, this 60-second video will give Facebook users a round-up of the day’s top stories and trending topics.

Photo filters to match your 140 characters. Twitter unveiled its photo editing features in the iOS and Android app, making photographs easier to enhance. The new filters are similar to the photo editing filters currently on the popular app Instagram.

Making Twitter a safe haven. Twitter announced enhanced in-product harassment reporting and an improved way to block users. The new updates are available now for a small group of users but will be rolled out to everyone in the future.

Social sharing goes dark. A new study from RadiumOne reveals that 59% of all online sharing activity in the U.S. takes place via dark social channels, such as email, texting, etc., compared to just 31% via Facebook and 10% on all other social channels combined. Interestingly, twenty-seven percent of U.S. consumers only share in the dark, meaning brands with no dark social strategy in place know nothing about more than a quarter of U.S. consumers online. This figure rises to 32% globally.
