Facebook high rollers dive deep into insights. Facebook gives certain brands exclusive access to information from the more than 1.3 billion Facebook users. Advertisers spending in the millions on campaigns or at least a half-million dollars for one ad have access to the exclusive marketing program, called Grapevine. Grapevine provides qualitative – not just quantitative – data analysis for a lens into what consumers really think based on comments and other social activities. The tool is relatively new but could take on the role of a giant focus group for brands to measure exactly how consumers think of their products.
Facebook introduces Groups app. Facebook announced a new standalone Groups app to help people share faster and more easily with their Facebook Groups.
New features slide into your DMs. After a year of not being able to send links in Twitter direct messages, the feature is back. Twitter also announced another change to direct messages: Users can now send tweets via DM.
Addicted to Instagram? Here’s why. Nir Eyal, a Stanford University lecturer, shares why Instagram is addictive. With more than 200 million people using the app, he may be on to something.
Facebook wants to do the news. Introducing FB Techwire, powered by Storyful, which shares newsworthy content from tech influencers on Facebook, including embeddable photos, videos and status posts that journalists can use for their own articles.
Search Twitter’s history. Twitter announced every public Tweet since 2006 is now available via search. Try it out at http://www.twitter.com/search-advanced.
Instagram: an ecommerce platform? If the Michael Kors company has its way, Instagram will become a useful ecommerce tool. Instagram fans can now register with an email address for the ecommerce program, called #InstaKors. When those fans like an Instagram photo uploaded to the Michael Kors account, the company emails direct links to purchase the items in the photo.
