Firm to Launch Labor of Love, Soul of Medicine and The Kaplan College Guide 2009
NEW YORK (September 16, 2008) – Rose Communications Inc., an independent, strategic public relations firm, has added three Kaplan Publishing projects to its slate of assignments. The agency has been retained to conduct PR and word-of-mouth marketing campaigns for: The Soul of Medicine: Tales from the Bedside: Best-selling author and National Book Award winner, Dr. Sherwin B. Nuland weaves together a series of intriguing medical cases he and his colleagues have encountered over the years and provides insight into the sacrosanct relationship between doctor and patient in his latest work, due out in April 2009. Rose Communications will implement a media relations and influencer campaign to tap Nuland’s notoriety and engage potential book buyers.
Labor of Love: A Midwife’s Memoir: In her debut book, which publishes in January 2009, Cara Muhlhahn, the certified nurse-midwife featured in Ricki Lake’s documentary, “The Business of Being Born,” shares her fascinating personal story while providing an insider’s look at natural childbirth in the home setting. In addition to offering a compelling personal narrative, “Labor of Love” gives readers insight into the home birth movement at a time when it is generating mainstream attention. The PR campaign for “Labor of Love” focuses on building word-of-mouth momentum and securing national media coverage.
Kaplan College Guide 2009: In recognition of today’s students going green and moving towards a sustainable future, Kaplan has, for the first time, focused its college guide on environmentally-responsible schools and green careers. The book, which is on sale now, features 25 green colleges from across the nation and profiles 10 hot green careers. Rose Communications is conducting a media campaign focused on bloggers, as well as environmental, education and career reporters. “We’re expanding into non-fiction narratives that tie with our existing areas of focus. Because the Rose Communications team has demonstrated their dedication and strong strategic thinking in the past, we’re confident partnering with them again will serve us well as we move in this direction,” said Maureen McMahon, president and publisher of Kaplan Publishing.
Kaplan Publishing first worked with Rose Communications in 2006 to launch “Word of Mouth Marketing” by Andy Sernovitz, then “Campus CEO” by Randal Pinkett. The agency is celebrating its five year anniversary this month.
